How I Get Ready for Summer Skin
With the unofficial start to summer here, it feels like the right time to get skin ready for the season ahead. Whatever your plan, a healthy glow through moisturizing or a self tanning routine, the cornerstone of it all is exfoliation. Skip that step and everything else has to work harder.
Here is how I get ready for radiant summer skin.
In This Article, You'll Learn
- Why exfoliation is the first step, whether you self tan or not
- How to choose between a self tan and a natural glow with body oil
- Why the face needs the same summer attention as the body
- Iris's simple, repeatable summer prep checklist
Start with a Buff
I always begin with our Icelandic Moss Salt Scrub to remove dead skin cells. This step buffs, evens, and smooths the skin, and the formula itself is a nourishing blend of oils, Icelandic mineral sea salt, and handpicked Icelandic moss. It comes in two sizes, a generous 300 gram jar and a 100 gram size that is perfect for travel.
If you are self tanning this summer, this is the step to do first, right before applying your favorite formula.
Choose Your Glow
If you are skipping the self tan for something more natural, hydrated skin is the real foundation of a summer glow, and that is where one of our body oils comes in. For a night out, I reach for the Volcanic Glow Body Oil. It blends red clover with rosehip and sea buckthorn oils to leave skin moisturized with a touch of shimmer. A few drops on shoulders and legs and the light catches skin just right.
The cornerstone of all radiant summer skincare is exfoliation, everything else builds from there.
It is one of our most loved products, and I hear from friends and ANGAN customers alike that the Volcanic Glow Body Oil becomes their go-to the moment they start showing a little more skin.
Do Not Forget Your Face
Body prep gets most of the attention this time of year, but I try to give my face the same care. Sun, wind, and extra time outdoors can leave skin feeling dry or a little more reactive than usual, which is exactly when I reach for our Arctic Youth Face Oil. Formulated for dry, sensitive, and redness-prone skin with ten plant oils, sea buckthorn, jojoba, and avocado among them, it helps skin feel calm and cared for even as the season changes around it.
On mornings when I want a brighter look before heading out, I layer our Sun Glow Vitamin-C Serum underneath. It is formulated with a gentle, oil-soluble vitamin C alongside Arctic berries, and it helps brighten the look of skin tone, a nice complement to a summer glow that is already building from the neck down.
Keeping It Simple
None of this needs to be complicated. Summer skin prep, for me, comes down to two or three steps done consistently rather than a long list done occasionally. Exfoliate, choose how you want to glow, and give your face the same attention your shoulders and legs are getting. The rest tends to take care of itself once those habits are in place.
A Simple Summer Prep Checklist
- Exfoliate first with the Icelandic Moss Salt Scrub to buff and even the skin
- Apply self tanner if that is part of your routine, right after exfoliating
- Or skip the tan and build a natural glow with a nourishing body oil
- Keep the face calm and hydrated with a gentle face oil
- Layer in a vitamin C serum on mornings you want extra brightness
Wishing you a great, glowing summer.
Xx, Iris
