A Studio Built Around Coming Back
Kópavogur is a quiet place to build a skincare brand, which might be exactly why it works. Long before ANGAN had a space you could visit, sustainability was already part of how we made things: small batches, honest ingredients, glass over plastic wherever we could manage it. In fall 2023 we took that thinking one step further and opened the doors to the ANGAN Refill Studio at our headquarters here in Iceland.

Why We Opened the Doors
The idea behind the Refill Studio is simple. Instead of buying a new bottle every time a favorite runs out, you bring your empty back to us. We call these ANGAN Empties, and giving them a second life is one of the most direct ways we can reduce waste together. It also gave us a reason to build something we had wanted for a long time, a real space where you can sit down with an ANGAN Skincare Expert, ask questions about your skin, and shop the best sellers while your bottles are refilled behind the counter.
More Than a Refill Counter
We wanted the studio to feel like a destination, not an errand. People come in to talk through what their skin actually needs, to smell the ingredients we work with, and to leave with both a refilled bottle and a little more understanding of their own routine. That conversation matters as much to us as the refill itself.
Sustainability will always be a pillar of who we are.
Where the Packaging Still Has Work to Do
We would be lying if we said every part of our packaging is perfect, and honesty matters more to us than sounding polished. Certain components, like pumps and droppers, are not yet fully recyclable. Where that is the case, we encourage you to give them a second life at home rather than tossing them out, a small refill for travel, a spot to decant something else. It is not a perfect solution, but it is an honest one, and we keep looking for better options every year as part of our broader effort to reduce our footprint across ingredients, production, and packaging.
Here is where we have made real progress so far:
- Our signature green glass bottles are designed to be refilled again and again through the Refill Studio, not thrown away after one use
- Outer cartons are made from a recyclable, sustainably sourced material, printed with vegetable ink and FCR certified
- Every formula is still handmade in small batches in our own studio, so nothing sits in a warehouse longer than it needs to
- Our products remain plant based, vegan, and cruelty free, the same promise we made when ANGAN started in a home kitchen
Made By Hand, A Few Steps Away
Because everything is formulated here in Kópavogur, the Refill Studio also feels like the most honest way to meet the people behind your skincare shelf. Our Arctic Youth Face Oil is mixed in small batches just through that same door, so when you come in for a refill, you are standing a few steps from where your face oil was actually made. There is something grounding about that closeness, about knowing exactly where a product comes from and who made it.
